User Guide: Gemini Sail Vision 👁️⛵
Athena Helm integrates intelligent camera analysis of your yacht's sails. By utilizing high-definition cameras mounted on the spreader bars, Sail Vision ensures optimal trim angles, preventing sail flutter and unnecessary friction.
📈 Analysis Parameters
Sail Vision continuously feeds photo frames into the companion analyzer to monitor:
-
Leach Twist & Sail Draft Depth:
- Compares the 3D curve of your sails against target mathematical wind lift ratios.
- Assists in selecting correct traveler slider increments.
-
Telltale Flutter Efficiency:
- Identifies whether physical yarn telltales on the luff of your sails are streaming flat or fluttering wildly.
- Tells you precisely whether to "sheet in" or "pinch up" into the wind.
-
Fiber Stress Load Cells:
- Integrates optional modern custom strain gauges placed inside high-modulus carbon fiber sails to flag overloaded fabric tension.
💡 Gemini Multimodal Performance Analysis
Using the Gemini Vision API (or shipboard offline model equivalent):
- Click Analyze Sail Rig inside the Vision console to upload a visual snapshot of your mast.
- The model reviews current sail shape, apparent wind speeds, traveler status, and outputs custom instructions.
- Example Guidance: "Your leech is twisting excessively to leeward. We recommend tightening the boom vang and shifting the Genoa car lead forward by 2 holes."
🕶️ Night Vision HUD
During night operations:
- Enable Thermal Infrared HUD Mode in the video console.
- Assists in tracking sail drafts and spotting black wind shadows or floating logs (FLOPs) ahead in complete darkness.
